As one of Romania’s fastest-growing hyper-discount chains and part of the German Schwarz Group ecosystem, La COCOS continued its rapid expansion while investing in efficient and future-ready store infrastructure. Together with project partner Frigotehnics Serv, Modern Expo delivered its first large-scale implementation of CO₂-based refrigeration systems — introducing sustainable cooling technology into high-traffic retail environments.

What we delivered

The rollout supported new and expanding locations in Pitești, Craiova, and Arad, including a flagship hyperstore in Craiova with more than 10,000 m² of sales area.

CO₂ refrigeration was selected as a strategic solution due to its environmental neutrality, safety, and extremely low Global Warming Potential (GWP = 1), helping reduce environmental impact while ensuring operational efficiency.
